Twin Lakes Cabin

Twin Lakes, 2016

This renovation of a 1950’s cabin proposes a novel strategy for heritage restoration.  The building had a lean, mid-century aesthetic, but was not insulated. Rather than destroy the appeal of the building by adding insulation and modernizing the performance, a separate winterized cabin was designed to create an ensemble.  The original building could then be stabilized and improved in a way that preserved its tent-like quality for summer use.
